Resting at the Child Protection Unit of the UPDF, Komaketch Joseph, Ojok Alex and Acira Alex were abducted eight, fifteen and nine years ago, respectively. Weary of fighting, they had surrendered to the UPDF the day before, but were unsure if their families would accept them. Abducted children endure brutal and traumatizing treatment, including bloody initiation rites. Often forced to return home to kill family members and burn their villages, these children lose hope of returning home and are told the government will persecute them if they attempt to flee.
